Not going to lie, writing this first newsletter has me feeling all the feels. I have tissues nearby as I share this next chapter in our family’s story.

Our daughter Bella just wrapped up club volleyball season, turned 18, is graduating high school this June and heading across the country to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT exactly 2,480.16 miles away from home (yes, I Googled it).

Just got back from our final prom this afternoon.

We are beyond proud of everything she’s accomplished, her dedication to school, her love for volleyball, the community, and now, her commitment to serve our country. She’s about to begin a tough but rewarding path to becoming an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard.

This isn’t my first time going through this. Eleven years ago, our son Andrew left home for the U.S. Naval Academy. I cried every single day that first week, praying he’d make it through bootcamp, the demanding academics, and the never-ending responsibilities. And he did. He graduated in 2014 as a proud Naval Officer.

Now, it’s Bella’s turn. I find myself in that familiar feeling of pride and worry. She’s got a full plate, bootcamp this summer, a rigorous academic year, military duties, and to top it off, she’s a recruited volleyball player with a packed East Coast travel schedule. Deep breaths, Mama. Deep breaths.

So why am I sharing all of this? Because I know many of you are going through similar transitions. That’s the heart behind this newsletter.

What now?
We’ve spent years pouring ourselves into raising amazing humans, driving to practices, cheering at games, late night talks, and early morning craziness. And suddenly… it’s quiet.

My husband Carlos and I are stepping into this new phase together, and we’re inviting you to come along. We’ll be sharing our thoughts, our laughs, and even our challenges as we navigate life after the kids leave the nest.

We will talk about everything from fun weekend getaways and reclaiming your health, to financial planning and rediscovering what lights you up.

Whether you’re a few months into empty nesting or just starting to think about it, you’re not alone. We’re right here with you, cheering you on, Kleenex in hand.

Thanks for joining us on this journey.
Let’s make this next chapter our best one yet.

From our nest to yours,
Liz
