Well… it’s happening.

After two decades of packed lunches, volleyball road trips, prom dress shopping, and “Wait, you need a tri-fold poster board tonight?!” moments—we’re officially weeks away from becoming empty nesters.

And we’re feeling all the feels.

This newsletter? It started somewhere between a Costco run and one of those quiet moments where we both realized the house was starting to sound different. Not bad. Not sad. Just… different. The kind of quiet that makes you wonder, “What’s next?” and maybe, “Is that Bruno snoring or did the dryer finally die?”

Inside this first issue, you’ll find stories that feel familiar—navigating graduation tears, figuring out how to travel as a couple again (with one very enthusiastic German Shepherd), and reclaiming rooms that once smelled like gym socks and teenage cologne.

Here’s what you’ll find this week:

  • ✍️ A heartfelt Nest Notefrom Liz, filled with both Kleenex and pride.
  • 🍷🧭 A new chapter of adventure in Empty Nester Explorer (spoiler: it includes popcorn and 80s music).
  • 🗞️ Carlos is officially “Dad Off Duty” in the Dad Dispatch—but not without one last sweaty gym memory.
🦉✨ Nest Wisdom: Hard-earned insights from the frontlines of letting go (this month: what a $65 hotel room really taught us).
  • 🪺 Our first Reclaim the Nest Mini Challenge (because reclaiming our space one jazz-filled room at a time feels pretty darn good).
  • 📚 A few carefully chosen Resources for those of you also staring at the calendar and counting down to that big life shift.

Whether you’re weeks away from an empty nest, still knee-deep in teen drama, or just here to laugh at us figuring this out—we’re glad you’re with us.

We’re not experts. We’re just a couple trying to find joy, humor, and maybe a good Pinot in this new season. And maybe, just maybe, help you do the same.

Let’s explore this next chapter together—with a full heart, a curious spirit, and plenty of snacks (because old habits die hard).

From our nest to yours,
Liz & Carlos
